Foamwork

Foam work has been a vital part of Specialty Costume making for decades. With the Superhero genre at its apogee, costume makers in this genre have pushed the boundaries of foamwork.

Various types of foam are cut, sculpted, layered, and integrated to create various effects for dimension and surface texture. In addition to this, foam work remains an essential part of the prototyping stage, with makers crafting a foam mock-up to test-fit or indicate the size and shape of a headpiece or costume element before it is 3D modeled and rendered.

Foam is used to create sculptural shapes and body for a variety of costumes, including walk-arounds, fat suits, pregnancy pads, and creatures.
